The latest transmission from GOLD ROOM STUDIOS arrives in the shape of one TTAM RENAT - here delivering a balearic-flavoured, hand percussion ripe slow burner sounding something like new jack swing on ativan, prostrate on a bed of dub bass - distinctly midi-centric but very much liberated from solely the sonic dimension; low involuntary images of solo dancers windswept on remote dunes suggest various perceptions of the musical formula… Another classy ‘closed-eyes/hands-in-air’ move from Chinatown’s 727 King !
Enter JACK J. with another soothing disco-dub ruby, laced with a reminiscing horn line expressed through a wink towards the island-jazz’n’bass style - we’re not quite sure if this one is live band or studio production, as with many of his exports, but we don’t care - this song has been a major staple of recent MOOD HUT parties and we simply love it - issued with statement reading “Keep your eyes peeled for the vocal version featuring ??? on the Mikrofone!” - Exciting!

Seeming as though through some sort of coordination, just before the heavy coastal rainclouds dissolve and the skies begin to open up for summer, we are presented with another perfectly-timed transmission from the mildewed vaults of the CELLAR - Arriving this morning we have a potentially valuable remix of a current favourite! Dolby J’s box-banging spring hit MUSCLE MIX (a statistical “favourite” featured on Mood Hut Mix 7) is all but overlooked at this point - however a remix such as this in no way crowds the original (which reportedly dislodged cameras and ended the live feed of a notable Ustream event due to the heavy mix of the kick drum) - instead, HASHMAN DEEJAY takes us on a detour for a slow trip through the DTES, cruising a low-slung hip-hop groove through a downtempo kerfuffle and winding up in a puddle of Buckley’s on the edge of the industrial district. Six minutes of deep and dark, culled from material surrounding the original sessions, featuring a 1 minute-long fadeout !
IGW coming through with a smash for Anthony Naples’ Proibito Records. This one contains tracks that we understand as Mood Hut anthems. As the man himself makes his return from La belle province back to the familiar Prior street dugout (also home of Gold Room studios), we can take this 12” as a reminder to keep the feet on the floor and our heads in the clouds. Blast this on your bixi mon gars!

An old favourite„bringing it all the way back to 2011, before the creation of this thing we do.
Notably closing out the sixth Mood Hut in an emotional fashion, the video features footage shot from quadrocopters by Simon Jardine. Perhaps ripe for your next rock/dance cross-over party playlist? For those of you keeping track, the Council convenes inside the Hut ; - )
